June 4 -- Bridge and a Picnic

Most everyone except Bonnie slept in this morning. I was second up at about 7:15 or so. Ed and Kay were up around 9. Had a leisurely breakfast and decided what to do today. Bonnie had gotten an email from some ladies she met here on an earlier trip that invited her to a picnic in St. James park. Her and Kay decided to go that way and Ed and I decided to play bridge if we could find a game nearby.

The ladies packed a salad to share and off they went to the park at about 11:15. They took the rail and tube to Westminster Station and then walked to the park. They met Bonnie's friends and had more food than they could have consumed in two meals. After the picnic broke up Kay and Bonnie walked over to Buckingham Palace. Since Kay had never been to England before it seemed the right thing to do since they were so close. They happened to be in the area of Westminster Abbey just after the Queen's 60th Jubilee. Lots of people around royally dressed but they didn't spy any royals on their walk. If you want more than this you will have to chat with Kay or Bonnie. This was all the information I could glean from our conversations. Didn't see them again 'til about 5.

Ed and I went off to play bridge at about 12:30. The game started at 1:30 and I thought we would have ample time. We took the train and tube to Parson's Green. Once we got out of the station we looked left and there was the club not more that 100 yards away. Certainly was easy enough to spot just like it said on the website. The club is Andrew Robson's club. It has a very nice playing area though it seemed a little cramped where we were. The was a bar where you could get food, soft drinks, and alcohol if you so desired. The other players were very pleasant and cleaned our clocks what they were being nice to us. We had a very good time but didn't do very well in the game. But then I play bridge to have fun. Win, lose, or draw I always have fun.

We got home about 5 or so and the ladies were already there. They had purchased things for dinner and we began preparing them about 6:30. Melanie was supposed to be home at 7 and arrived a little early. Had a nice quiet evening at home and then off to bed.

No pictures for this day. I left the camera at home and didn't get any from Bonnie or Kay.
