June 7 -- Alpen a/d Rijn, Netherlands

Slept late, we had breakfast at 10 or so.

After our "early" breakfast we were off to see Dirk Stuit. This morning we had coffee and great conversation with Dirk. We walked to town, four blocks away,  bought chocolate and cheese to take back to Wisconsin and a few flowers for our host. Yes, I know, it doesn't make much sense to go all the way to the Netherlands to buy cheese to take back to Wisconsin. We did it anyway!

We returned to the house about 4 PM from our shopping trip. There was more conversation and good company, Ed napped, Bonnie and Kay went to the post office and Dirk and I talked about politics and family.  This was a most wonderful day for everyone. It was really a very relaxing day. Since I am posting this more than a week later I would like to say you should program days like this into your vacations.

Dirk had made dinner reservations for around 7 PM so we strolled over to Alfred’s Diner. The food (French) was excellent, the atmosphere was very good, the staff friendly and very accommodating.

After dinner we strolled back to the house and said our good nights returning to the hotel for an "early" start in the morning.
